While Courtney may dream of a bigger garden, it’s difficult to argue about how cool the skateboard ramp looks in the backyard. Working on every inch of the property, from the inside out, and with the help of friends, the space has undergone a complete transformation. Using rustic, reclaimed materials wherever possible, cedar barn wood was placed in the kitchen, burnt cedar for the outdoor furniture and reclaimed redwood makes up the outdoor shower and roof trim. With bamboo flooring, a kitchen table made of recycled scraps of wood and a kitchen counter and backsplash made entirely of sea glass tiles, it is instantly clear that Matt and Courtney have been environmentally conscious in their design choices. But it’s not just pretty to look at.
